The things people ask most often. If yours isn't here, write to us at steven.trapsuutjie.linen@gmail.com we answer within two business days.
How long until my order arrives?
Nothing is cut before you order it. Your garment takes 7 to 10 working days to make, and delivery within South Africa adds a further 2 to 4 days. Tracking details follow the moment it ships.
Every garment is inspected before it leaves us. On the rare occasion one doesn't pass, we make it again and write to you with the new date rather than send you something we wouldn't wear ourselves.
How do I know what size to order?
Measure yourself against the Sizing page before you order, for shirts you need only two measurements, chest or bust and shoulder width. If you fall between sizes, or you're unsure, write to us first. Every garment is cut after the order is placed, so a few minutes now is worth more than an alteration later.
Can I return it if it doesn't fit?
No, and we'd rather say so plainly than surprise you at the end. Each garment is made for one person, on one order, there is no shelf for it to go back to. Returns and exchanges are not accepted on grounds of size, fit, or change of mind.
That is exactly why we ask you to measure first, and why we answer sizing questions before you buy rather than after. Nothing here limits the rights the Consumer Protection Act gives you.
What if something is wrong with the garment?
Then it is ours to put right. Inspect your order when it arrives, and if there is a fault in the making or the wrong item has come, write to us within 14 days with your order number and a photograph. We arrange collection, we pay the carriage, and we repair or replace it.
One honest caveat: linen softens, creases and changes in the hand as you wear it. That is the fabric doing what linen does, not a fault.
Can you alter a garment for me?
Often, yes. Ask before you place the order and we'll tell you what's possible. Alterations are quoted and charged separately.
Do you ship outside South Africa?
We do. Shipping is calculated at checkout on the weight of your order and its destination.
One thing to know before you order: you are the importer of record. Import duties, taxes and customs charges in your country are payable by you, are set by your customs authority rather than by us, and are not included in what you pay here. If a parcel is refused or abandoned because those charges go unpaid, the return carriage is for your account.
If you are in the European Union, you may cancel within 14 days of receiving your order. The garment must be unworn, unlaundered and in its original packaging, and return carriage is yours unless the garment is faulty.
How should I care for linen?
Wash gently in cold or lukewarm water. Do not wring it, do not tumble dry it. Line dry where you can, and stem it or iron it while it is still slightly damp.
Linen softens with every wash. Treated well, it will outlast most of what hangs beside it.
